Hardwicke House Group Practice Patient Partnership

We work collaboratively with the Surgery regarding issues/matters affecting patients (no confidential data is shared). It is really beneficial for the patients to have a proactive Patient Partnership Group (PPG). Patients are encouraged to join the PPG to represent a wide range of health conditions, ages and the interests of carers.

The Integrated Care Board (ICB) which is responsible for commissioning healthcare services in West Suffolk says it wants to put "patients at the heart of their decision making". To ensure the "patients voices" are heard it is essential there is a strong patient group to feed into the ICB.

Issues the group will get involved with

  • Provide a link between the practice staff and patient views.
  • Assist with patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Provide a link between the practice and wider community representative groups eg. Integrated Care Board (ICB), Healthwatch, Age UK etc.
  • Raise awareness of local support groups.
  • Share best practice and good ideas to enhance the well-being of patients and staff.
  • Input to practice information to ensure the content meets local needs and is accessible to all patients.
  • Organise patient information events, eg. Displays in surgeries to support national awareness campaigns, and patient education events eg. Healthy Lifestyles.
  • Provide a sounding board and input to major changes to services.

We try to encourage patients across all age groups, economic and social backgrounds to join the group. Some of the ways we have done this:

  • PPG notice boards in each of our surgeries.
  • Fliers handed out at our flu/covid clinics attended every year by over 3000 patients.
  • Website links.
